Ayesha Takia Azmi, who is married to well-known entrepreneur Farhan Azmi, is planning to open a chain of cafes called ‘Chai Coffee’. The first outlet is expected to open in Versova, Mumbai.

ANJAANA ANJAANI, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra and directed by Siddharth Raj Anand, is almost complete, except for a 3-day shooting. Since the makers couldn’t get permissions to shoot on a bridge in U.S.A., the portions are currently being shot in Malaysia.

While on ANJAANA ANJAANI, although the release of the film has been fixed for 1st October, Siddharth is keen to bring it in July, almost three months before its scheduled date.

Ayesha Takia has finally signed a new movie post her marriage to restaurateur Farhan Azmi. She was working on Revathy Sharma’s Aapke Liye Hum with Jaya Bachchan and Raveena Tandon but the movie has been delayed.
The new movie in question is directed by South Indian actress turned director Revathy and is a very sweet romantic film. Ayesha had said that she would do one or two meaningful movies a year and has agreed to do Revathy’s beautiful love story.

All those who insisted that Paathshala would be the last time one saw Ayesha Takia (left) on screen, post her marriage to restaurateur Farhan Azmi, can now be silenced. The actress’ mother, Farida, confirms that Ayesha, who had asserted in an interview to HT in April, that she was open to doing one or two meaningful movies a year, should be back in the studio “very soon, may be in a month or two” for Revathy’s next film. Ayesha was paired oposite Salman Khan in Wanted.

Sehar's (Ayesha Takia) world turns topsy-turvy when she gets a clue about the missing Sunday of her life, which points to a possible violent attack on her. A.C.P Rajveer (Ajay Devgan) takes up the case to sort out the complicated and jumbled up threads of Sehar's life.
In the process of solving Sehar's case it comes to light that on Sunday, different people interacted with her and amongst them, one could be the accused. The lot included Ballu (Arshad Warsi), the taxi driver and his friend, Kumar (Irrfan Khan), a struggling NSD actor, Ritu (Anjana Sukhani), Sehar's close friend, a scary and suspicious character who resides in Sehar's society, and the group whom she had come across while partying at the discotheque.
While trying to solve the puzzle, Rajveer stumbles upon a murder case whose clues hold up Sehar to be the culprit.
Seher is at first amused, then mystified and then terrified when she realises she has a connection with all these totally unconnected incidents.
But she cannot remember anything,
Her fiancée ACP Rajvir Randhava is convinced that Seher is innocent, but he is also equally sure that she is linked to everything.
Then another dead body is found. And the bracelet found near the corpse belongs to Seher. The evidence is mounting and all dingers point ay Seher.
And still, Seher does not remember anything.
Is Seher really as innocent as she claims to be?
A dubbing artiste by day, is she also a serial killer by night?

Now if that formula befits someone, that’s got to be Azeem Khan, said the guests who walked into his Colaba store to check out his line of Taking people by surprise was the tulle and net finish on which the semi-precious stones and crystals were encrusted. Zeba Kohli was the first to walk in and took her pick of a cool clover-shaped neckpiece and later came back for the champagne party. Esther Daswani, Bina Aziz and Brinda Miller bonded over some New Year news; Suchitra Pillai, Khushnuma and Arzan Khambatta, Nina Manuel and Reshma Bombaywala were few of the suburbanites who drove by to wish Azeem luck; Chhaya Momaya walked in sporting traditional attire, a rare sight indeed. In fact, even Nethra Raghuraman and Rukhsana Eisa fancied sarees for a change! The other attraction here were Farhan Azmi and Ayesha Takia. His geeky pair of spectacles and her pink mobile phone looked oh-so-trendy! Sporting a small bun and a one-shoulder top, the actress mingled around with a girlish charm. The theme at the store was white as “white depicts purity,” said Azeem, feeling overwhelmed with the response to his designs. His wife Sameena Khan chose to sport a white number herself. Models were seen sashaying the entire look with clutches, belts and earrings displaying the light-weight line of accessories. While the heavy-weight list of guests continued to pour in and have a gala evening.

“After ‘Dor’, viewers showed the confidence that I could play serious roles too and so I was offered roles in films like ‘Eight By Ten’ and ‘Wanted’ and many other big movies,” Ayesha told IANS.

Ayesha is on the verge of completing another Kukunoor film titled “Eight By Ten”.

“Ten days of shooting is left. It also stars Akshay Kumar,” said Ayesha who plays Akshay’s wife in the supernatural thriller.

Her next release is “De Taali”, which will be showcased at the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) awards, starting June 6 in Bangkok.

Talking about the film, the dimpled actress said: “The character is totally in contrast to what I am in actual life. I play Ammu who is a complete tomboy. She is a complete brat and grows up with Aftab Shivdasani and Reitesh Deshmukh. She does what normally guys do.”

Apart from “De Taali”, she has Boney Kapoor’s “Wanted Dead And Alive”, which marks southern dancing superstar Prabhu Deva’s entry into Hindi films as director.

The film is a remake of Tamil film “Pokkiri”, which was also directed by Prabhu Deva. In the action movie, Ayesha is paired with Salman Khan. Mahesh Manjrekar and Om Puri too feature in key roles.

The actress is also doing Ahmed Khan’s film on four children titled “Pathshala” where she and Shahid Kapur play teachers.

Though “Tarzan – The Wonder Car”, for which she won the best debutant actress award in 2004, was released before “Socha Na Tha,” Ayesha considers Imtiaz Ali’s romantic comedy as her debut film.

She said: “‘Socha Na Tha’ will always be my first film and close to my heart. ‘Tarzan’ was an entertaining film but ‘Socha Naa Tha’ had a lot of space for acting.’

Was she approached for Imtiaz’s second film “Jab We Met”?

“Initially, Bobby and I were supposed to do the film, but the dates did not work out between us. But, I look forward to working with Imtiaz.”

The actress faced the camera for the first time when she was four years old for an ad and later she did quite a few commercials and music videos.

How difficult was it to gain entry into films? “It was not at all difficult. I did not go looking for work. Imtiaz went through my audition tapes and called me to his office.”

Ayesha feels that making an entry is not at all difficult if one has the talent and is ready to work hard.

So far Ayesha has worked mainly with new directors – does she have a preference for them?

“I don’t have any preferences and I cannot afford it. It is just that the offers came from them. And it is always an exciting experience as new directors are always enthusiastic and hard working and give everything for the project as they know that their life depends on the project.”

Did she plan to be an actress as a child?

“I was raised in a normal Gujarati style with all the restrictions and reservations. As far as plans are concerned, I did not have plans to become an actress in my childhood.”

About a favourite co-star, Ayesha said: “I am not being diplomatic, I enjoyed working with all of them. Also, I am a very professional type of person. I finish my work and go home. I have no favourites, I enjoyed working with all of them.”

Apparently Ayesha makes producers sign a contract on her reservations about intimate and steamy scenes.

She said: “Yes, I do sign a contract with every producer and mother has nothing to do with it. I have lived life according to my own principles and ideologies and I adhere to it.”

The 23-year-old has done various roles ranging from comedy to serious characters, but prefers romantic movies. “I would like to do romantic films most and my second preference would be serious roles. Though I am not comfortable with stunts, I would definitely like to do an action film like ‘Tomb Raider’.”

She is dating Farhan Azmi and has started a boutique hotel business with him, but has no immediate plans to marry him.

“I want to work and don’t have any plans to marry now.”

Early life

Ayesha Takia was born in Mumbai, India to Nishit, a Gujarati, and her mother, Faridah, is an Anglo-Indian---half British Christian and half Indian Muslim. She went to St. Anthony's High School. She has a younger sister named Natasha and her cousin is upcoming star Abdul Zafar.

She then appeared in the video, Shake It Daddy, when she was sixteen, which brought her to the attention of the movie industry, and a few film offers followed. She signed a contract for Socha Na Tha. However, there were delays in making Socha Na Tha so Taarzan released first and was therefore her "debut" film. She won the Filmfare Best Debut Award in 2004 for her performance in Taarzan: The Wonder Car. She earned critical acclaim for her performance in Nagesh Kukunoor's Dor with Taran Adarsh of Indiafm.com writing,". She accepted non-glamorous roles, which most actors don't do at the start of their career." [2]
